Justin McHugh

Justin’s enthusiasm for the drums began at an early age, after hearing and feeling the sounds and soul from drummers like Mitch Mitchell and John Bonham. He brings his energy-filled and open-minded approach to playing and teaching, and is continually striving to develop his craft.

Having acquired his Bachelors of Music diploma from Humber College, studying with Larnell Lewis, Barry Romberg, Mark Kelso and conga player Jalidan Ruiz, college not only inspired Justin but also developed his interest in composing and arranging. Justin continually writes new compositions for the many groups he is involved with throughout Toronto. He has had the opportunity to write for the Univox choir, where his piece was performed by the group at their 2015 Creo Animam concert.

Justin is passionate about teaching and is driven to help students achieve their goals, tailoring classes according to each student's individual needs and deepening their understanding and interest in music.
