Joe Iannuzzi

  

 

 

Toronto-based musician Joe Iannuzzi has been playing drums since 1981.  His earliest musical influences include The Beatles, The Who and Led Zeppelin.

He has studied privately with Rick Gratton, Paul DeLong, Vito Rezza, Roger Flock, Don Vickory, Barry Romberg and Anthony Michelli.  Also, Joe has spent nearly eight years studying with legendary master teacher and jazz drummer Jim Blackley.  Joe has also taken one-time lessons or master classes with Jim Chapin, Sam Ulano, Ari Hoenig, Zoro and Kevin Crabb.

As a performer Joe has played with The Patrick Hewan Trio, The Ron Westray Quartet, The Miller Stain Limit, Jay Clark and the Jones, David Lee (champion Elvis impersonator) and several other jazz and rock acts.  He has also shared the stage with legendary jazz musicians such as Mike Murley, Ted Quinlan, Kelly Jefferson, Lorne Lofsky, Artie Roth, Richard Underhill and Ernest Dawkins.

Joe has also graduated from the Humber College music program and received a BFA in music from York University.  He is currently a graduate student at York University pursuing a Masters Degree in musicology. 

As an educator, Joe has spent the last twenty years teaching in various drum shops and music schools throughout the GTA.  His goal as an educator and clinician is to inform, inspire and motivate.  Joe’s teaching motto is “To serve students and help them to become the best they can be.”  Joe continues to grow as an eternal student, musician and educator sharing his musical gifts with musicians and students alike.
